Help me pick a new team for next year’s racing, or help me decide to keep my loyalty to Flying Lizard. I need help deciding because the class of racing that I like to follow the most is GT2 the one that has all the actual real cars that you in theory could buy. My dilemma is that two of my favorite teams are going to racing against one another next year both in GT2. My favorite team from GT1 is moving down to GT2 so they can have more competition to race against, that team is Chevy’s Corvette team. I had been following the Flying Lizard team in GT2 and that was the team that I most liked, but I am afraid that next year they are going to get their butts kicked by the super powerful Vetts. Flying Lizard won the drivers’ championship for last year and they were showing a really good competitive nature that had all the Ferrari drivers nervous. They figured it out that they actually had some competition last year and with the Corvette team coming now too, well I wouldn’t want to be them. So if you know anything about the sport let me know what you think and I will consider what you have to say. Even if you just like the name of one better let me know.
The future of most car and the real developments that are made for the road almost always come from the track. What this means is that auto manufacturers are doing a lot of their development for their production cars on the track. So the technology that goes into these race cars is eventually going to be implemented into their production cars. What this means for us as the consumer is that we get better, cleaner, and more efficient cars. So for the manufacturers the different race series can be helpful and used as a resource in more ways than just the competition. The auto manufactures get a nice big test area that gives them the best opportunity to try out some new ideas that they want to see if it will work. Some companies spend a lot of money on developing new stuff in facilities that do nothing but test out the new tech but in Le Mans it is a double whammy. It is good to see the development of car companies in a form that we get to enjoy on Sunday mornings through our television sets. We get to see the cool races with the new toys that we could potentially own someday. Corvette is a very good example of a team that uses their factory sponsored race team to develop new stuff. Acura is another team that uses their race teams to develop technologies that will be implemented in their race cars. So when we are watching these races we could be driving their cars in a few years.

Change in Classes
So to get things started with this BLOG I am going to talk about what’s hot in the world of Lemans right now. First and foremost is the news about next year and the class changes. For those of you who are new to the sport Lemans is racing that has four different classes, or types of cars all out on the track at the same time. It makes for some crazy traffic situations that can lead to some hairy racing. These classes are LMP1, LMP2, and GT1, GT2. The LMP classes use those prototype cars that look really wild. The GT class is made up of cars that are factory produced and in theory we could make ourselves given enough cash. The news here is that Corvette’s factory sponsored race team has left the GT1 class and gone down to the GT2. Why is this big news? Well for the longest time it has just been the two Corvettes racing each other in GT1 because they had no competition in the class. Now they will have more competition than they can shake a stick at! Some of the other teams are probably shaking in their boots right now because Corvette is a super powerful force and an even greater race team. They have won at so many races, even if there is other cars out on the track that doesn’t seem to bother them, they just cruise on by them like they were standing still. We will have to just wait and see what will happen next will they really cause the other cars grief? Who knows but I can’t wait to find out.
Nice Little Video Link
So to start things off in my LeMans based blog, here is a link to a video that I think will give everyone who has never seen one of these races before, a good idea of what it's all about
